Najam Institute is a non-political educational institute based in Atlanta, GA, dedicated to classical Islamic learning and designed to serve all members of the Muslim community.

To that end, we offer weekly seminars on various topics, including seerah, purification of the heart, signs of the final hour, tafseer, and more.

All programs at Najam Institute are based on the Quran and the Sunnah as understood by the Sahabah (Companions) and the Salaf Saliheen (Pious Predecessors), with a respect for all scholars of the Ahl al-Sunnah wal Jama’ah. Our instructors are authentic scholars who teach in the traditional way, with an emphasis on practically applying what is learned in class to one’s life.

In the current age of globalization and technology, Muslims are bombarded with information from many sources. Sometimes, it can be difficult to discern which sources and information are legitimate, in order to gain a foundation of fundamental Islamic knowledge. Due to this confusion, many people fail to seek any Islamic knowledge at all. The result of this lack of knowledge is a spiritual darkness. Like the stars in the night guide those who are engulfed in darkness, Najam Institute seeks to reach out to each individual Muslim and provide him/her with the opportunity to gain authentic Islamic knowledge and implement it in his/her life.

“It is He Who makes the stars [as beacons] for you; so that you may guide yourselves, with their help, through the dark spaces of the land and the sea: We have detailed Our signs for people who have knowledge.”Surah An’am (6:97)

Mufti Samir was born in Atlanta, Georgia, where he completed his initial schooling. Inspired by the beautiful recitation of the Holy Quran at a local masjid, he decided to commit the entire Quran to memory. He enrolled in Darul Uloom Atlanta and completed his memorization of Quran (Hifz) there. Thereafter, he enrolled in the prestigious seminary Darul Uloom Al-Madania in Buffalo to commence on a six year intensive study of the core disciplines of a traditional Islamic education such as Arabic, Tafseer (Quranic Exegesis), Hadith (Prophetic Traditions), Fiqh (Jurisprudence) and other related disciplines.

As the new branch of the seminary opened in Chatham, Ontario by the name of Darul Uloom Canada, he relocated to it and completed his graduation there, gaining Ijazas or authorizations to teach the various subjects, most notably, the six most authentic books of Hadith, namely, Sahih Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Sunan At-Tirmidhi, Sunan an-Nasai, Sunan ibn Majah and Sunan Abu Dawud.

His teachers include Shaykhul Hadith Abdul Moiz, Shaykh Mansoor Memon Madani, Shaykh Ibrahim Memon Madani, Mufti Husain Ahmed, and Shaykh Asim Ahmed.

In 2014, he completed a post-graduate specialization program in Islamic Law and Legal Verdicts (Iftaa) which trains scholars to issue formal Islamic legal opinions (Fatwa), and he is the founder of Najam Institute. He was an instructor for eAlim, the online distance learning shariah program of Darul Uloom Canada and Darul Uloom Al-Madania, and has given engaging and thought-provoking lectures and khutbahs in various masajid. Apart from academics, he takes keen interest in organizing sports or extracurricular events in order to positively engage the youth.

Being an Atlanta native, Mufti Samir understands the unique community and is committed to providing the community opportunities for the Atlanta Muslim community to access traditional knowledge in a modern context.
